Last night was the last Benson Brew of my college career, and it was bitter sweet to play music there for the last time. It’s always a really fun event, so I figured I’d share it with you.
Each semester, the fine folks at Benson Hall (TNU’s men’s dorm) and the ladies of Johnson Hall (one of TNU’s female dorms) host the event. It is held in the basement of Benson, which gets nicely decorated, and is usually, but not always, set to the theme of a holiday. Benson Brew also provides hot chocolate and coffee (thus the “brew”) and lots of cookies. Other than the cookies, the entertainment is always the big draw of the event. Students put together bands or acoustic groups and play original music and covers. Last night featured some really cool music from Jon Mowry, fun sing alongs with John Keaton, originals from Sean Kilpatrick and Caleb Willis, covers by Emily Waller, and then my really talented friend Austin Lord and I played some sad break up songs (for Valentine’s Day, of course).
Thanks to Sophie Green and Jessica Dykes for planning an awesome event!
